On December 13th the second annual Rockin ' Christmas Party was held at Private Sky Aviation. The building had painted banners designed by Cypress Lake students hanging from the ceiling and walls. All around the hanger were tables set up for food and auctions. The food ranged from steaks, from Sanibel Steakhouse, to drinks sponsored by Pepsi, and root beer floats taken right out of a 50's soda shop. The auction consisted of tickets to a Celin Dion concert, an autographed photo of Brittney Spears, a set of Men's and Women's Rolex watches valued at $18,000, and many more eccentric things.

In the early evening the music began with singers such as Mike Reno, Mickey Thomas, Jimi Jamison, and Cliff Williams. Opening for them was Whitney Wolanin, the daughter of Vincent and Illona Wolanin who were co-founders of the event, along with Dr. John and Liz Kagan

Whitney's singing is worth mentioning. She sang Pink's "I'm coming out", a modified version of "We are a family", "Up!" by Shania Twain, and The Weather Girl's "It's raining men". She, to insure top quality interviewed all of her "pro-level" back-up singers and dancers. The rest of the singers were magnificent, they got everyone out of their seats and on to the crowded dance floor.

The Galeana family provided four new cars from their family of dealerships allowing people to see the new Chrysler Pacifica and Crossfire. A souvenir picture area was available where people were able to get their pictures taken on the steps of a private jet and there was a small jet display just outside of the hanger doors.

Preceding our night we went to Lee Memorial's Children's Hospital located at Health Park to interview some of the performers for the show, the owner of Private Sky aviation, and the star pitcher of the Boston Red Sox, Derek Lowe. All of the participants were glad to help brighten these sick children 's Christmas.

We had a wonderful time at the party enjoying the magnificent food, pleasing music and dreaming about the cars and airplanes. At the hospital it was a humbling experience and we realized how lucky we truly are being able to enjoy things like this. Our recommendation is, if you can attend this event next year, go to support this worthy cause and have a grand time mingling amongst the stars.
